Luz Urrutia

Luz Urrutia is the Chief Executive Officer of Accion Opportunity Fund, the nation’s leading nonprofit providing small businesses with access to capital, educational resources, business coaching, and community networks. Since joining in 2017, Luz has led the organization’s transformation into a national Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), scaling its impact and reach across underserved communities. Under her leadership, AOF has deployed over $1 billion in small business loans, with a goal of quadrupling its impact by 2025 through expanded lending, new products, and strategic partnerships.
In 2020, Luz led the merger of Opportunity Fund and Accion, The U.S. Network, creating Accion Opportunity Fund—the first nonprofit focused on a national microlending strategy designed to meet the credit and advising needs of small business owners. She has since overseen the development of new loan products, fintech partnerships, research initiatives, and digital tools to strengthen mission-driven lending.
Luz brings over 30 years of experience in financial services, with a focus on expanding access to capital for historically underserved communities. She began her career at Wachovia, where she spent 18 years in leadership roles. In 2001, she founded and served as President and COO of El Banco de Nuestra Comunidad, a Georgia-based bank serving Latino consumers and small businesses. She later led retail expansion at Oportun across five states as VP of Retail Sales and Services, and served as CEO for the Americas at Dollar Financial Group, where she focused on transforming the company into a more responsible lender for low-income communities.
Luz has served on the Consumer Advisory Board of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Consumer Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Board, and the board of the Financial Health Network. She currently serves on the board of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation and is a member of the Community Advisory Council for the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. In 2021, she was named to Forbes’ “50 Over 50: Investments” and received the Latino Leadership Award from the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
Luz holds a B.S., magna cum laude, in Business Administration and Finance, and an M.B.A., both from Georgia State University. She lives in Mountain View, California.

Anna Schember serves as Chief of Staff at AOF, where she plays a crucial role in aligning the organization’s mission and strategic goals to drive operational excellence and financial sustainability. Anna works with the CEO and COO to manage organizational priorities, foster collaboration across teams, and oversee critical projects that advance AOF’s mission to drive economic mobility for underserved small businesses. Anna helped to lead the organization’s most recent five-year strategic planning process, as well as annual planning to ensure alignment with both short- and long-term objectives.
Prior to her role at AOF, Anna worked in nonprofit Arts institutions, including fundraising, donor relations, customer relations, and operations, where she earned a record of high-quality execution, accountability and effective team management. Anna is a graduate of Bowdoin College. She resides in Southern California.

As SVP and Business Banking Division Sales Manager at Citibank, he led high-performing teams and executed market expansion strategies across Florida. Augusto has deep expertise in lending, credit analysis, and business development.

Dave Coultas is the Chief Financial and Operating Officer at Accion Opportunity Fund, where he oversees finance, capital markets, technology, loan operations, treasury, legal, and strategic planning. With over 25 years of experience, he has held CFO and executive roles at MUFG Union Bank, Washington Mutual, and early-stage fintech, SaaS, AI, and cleantech startups. He began his career at Ernst & Young and has led initiatives in mortgage capital markets, bank capital management, and market risk. Dave has also served more than a decade on nonprofit boards as a treasurer and chair. He holds a degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin and is a former CPA and CFA Charterholder.

Elizabeth Ross-Ronchi is the Chief Marketing, Product, and Communications Officer at Accion Opportunity Fund, where she leads integrated marketing, product line strategy, customer journey design, and communications. During her 22 years at American Express, she helped launch OPEN, led the first term loan and line of credit suite, introduced a global commercial brand platform, and expanded small business lending internationally through fintech partnerships. Known as a collaborative leader, Elizabeth brings deep expertise in product marketing and growth strategy. She holds an MBA from Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business.

A certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt, PMP, and Agile practitioner, he specializes in process optimization, change management, and building high-performing, customer-focused teams.

A serial entrepreneur and seasoned executive, Robert has led teams at both global corporations and early-stage startups. His work has resulted in award-winning innovations, including the world’s first GPS-locked payment card and a global open-banking API platform. Trained as a scientist, he brings a deep commitment to problem-solving and bold experimentation. Outside of work, Robert can often be found in the desert launching high-powered rockets—with FAA clearance.

Prior to AOF, Sanjeev was Chief Risk, Credit, and Data Officer at Covalto, and spent 22 years at American Express in global credit leadership roles, including VP and Chief Credit Officer for Commercial Charge Cards and Global Supplier Payments. He holds two master’s degrees from SUNY Stony Brook and a Leadership Certification from Harvard Business Review.

He manages relationships with more than 30 capital partners, including banks, CDFIs, foundations, corporations, and other financial institutions. John is responsible for negotiating and securing term loans, impact investments, and lines of credit from banks, high net worth individuals, and philanthropic investors. He also oversees loan pricing, buyer due diligence, and closings for AOF’s small business loan sales. Prior to joining AOF, John spent over a decade in private equity. He graduated with high honors from the University of California at Davis.
